Adobe is expanding its tools inside AI chatbots, adding Acrobat capabilities to its Claude plugin and preparing a separate integration with Google Gemini.

The Gemini integration has yet to launch. When it does, Adobe says people will be able to use tools from Photoshop, Lightroom, Adobe Express and Firefly directly through a Gemini conversation. A user could describe what they want to create or alter, while Adobe’s system selects and coordinates the tools needed to complete the task.

Tasks could include enhancing photos, creating marketing materials or customizing designs without requiring the user to move between individual Adobe applications.

Adobe describes the Gemini integration as the beginning of a broader partnership with Google, with more creative and productivity capabilities expected to follow. The company did not provide a specific launch date in the announcement.

A more immediate Adobe update will take place within Claude.

Adobe has expanded its existing Claude plugin to include Acrobat, bringing PDF and document tools alongside creative capabilities from products including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign and Adobe Stock. Adobe says the plugin now brings together more than 80 creative and productivity tools.

The Acrobat additions cover several common PDF tasks. Users can ask Claude to delete, combine or split pages, redact sensitive information and convert or export PDFs into other formats.

Adobe is also adding an interactive Acrobat editor inside the Claude experience. That editor allows users to reorder pages, edit text and add comments or highlights without leaving the conversation.

A Document Review feature goes a step further. Adobe says Claude can analyze a document and place recommendations and annotations directly into the editor, giving users a way to move between reviewing a file and changing it within the same workflow.

Adobe Express is also getting a more interactive editing experience in Claude. A new layer-based editor allows individual elements of a design — including images, text, colors and fonts — to be selected and changed separately. That means users can adjust one part of a design without asking the system to regenerate the entire asset.

While the Acrobat expansion in Claude is part of Adobe’s current plugin offering, Adobe describes the Gemini integration as an upcoming launch.

Both follow the same basic approach: rather than asking users to know which Adobe application or tool they need, the chatbot serves as the starting point. Users describe the result they want, and Adobe’s technology handles the steps and tools behind it.

That does not mean the full Adobe applications are being recreated inside Claude or Gemini. The integrations expose selected Adobe capabilities through conversational interfaces, with interactive editing available for some workflows.

For now, Claude is where Adobe’s broader mix of creative and document tools is available. Gemini is the next platform Adobe says it plans to bring into that strategy.

The larger shift is straightforward: Adobe is moving some of the work traditionally done inside individual applications into the AI conversations where users are increasingly following through on their tasks.
